Event Format: GAMES: Each team will participate in five (5) games / evaluations. 16U & 18U divisions will be mixed to allow all team to receive equal opportunity to be scouted at by college coaches.
TBDDuring these opportunities, each team will run through a prescribed infield / outfield drill developed by Triple Crown, which will be given to teams before they attend the showcase. The infield / outfield drills will be watched by the college coaches. The format is designed to show college coaches all players’ basic skills (fielding and throwing mechanics). A game between the two teams will follow. With pitching distance of 43 feet. The intent of the game is to showcase player’s skills for the college coaches, not to advance to an event Championship. Due to request of team coaches we will now use umpires for all team games. However we will only use 1 umpire for games.
EVALUATIONS: Team coaches must create a "College Placement Roster" and submit it to Event ID 3460. The roster goes into a handbook, which is given to the college coaches in attendance.
College coaches will be behind the backstop evaluating each player during games / evaluation periods. Due to college coach request they will keep these evaluations for their recruiting purposes only. Evaluations will not be given to teams as this information is more valuable to college coaches for post event recruiting. Please know we cannot control college coaches and they will migrate to different fields. A great way to attract coaches to your games are to contact coaches prior to event with emails and letters informing them on team name and game times. In addition players who participate in the individual session (mornings) can attract coaches as well.
RECRUITING SEMINAR: Triple Crown will present a short seminar on the recruiting process (45 minutes) on Firday night - location is TBA. We will cover the following subjects:
1. College types (DI, DII, DIII, JC, NAIA)
2. College Requirements
3. How to find a college that fits a players needs
After the seminar, NAIA and JUCO college coaches will be available for questions.
Sunday - (mid-day) at fields will be an open house talk. This is an opportunity for players to talk with all college coaches in attendance. This is a great time to start a face to face relationship. Following the open house, we are working on a tour on the UNLV campus with the softball team. This would be a chance for players to ask college players about their experiences and view on college athletics.

History
The Showcase in the City of Lights is a unique opportunity for College bound student athletes to showcase their skills and interact with College College Coaches from around the country. A rare platform intended to promote relationship building between College Coaches and student athletes.
2009 is the third year for the team showcase. The team number is expected to grow based on the popularity and unique quality of this event.
2008 was a year of growth for the Showcase in the City of Lights almost tripling in size. Almost all the teams in the team portion also participated in the individual showcase.
2007, Triple Crown Sports added the team showcase to the individual showcase to create a well rounded event. The success of the event enables us to keep the team portion part of The Showcase in the City of Lights.
