  • History

2005 marked the inaugural year of the Sparkler Showcase Games and the beginning of the most successful College Exposure Event in the country. Over 600 prospective student-athletes participated and were able to showcase their skills and talents to the college coaches on the field with them as well as the college coaches in the bleachers recruiting.

In 2006, the Triple Crown Sparkler tournament continued with the Sparkler Showcase Games. In this year, the games grew to include the 16U teams, as well as the 18U teams. Over 1,000 prospective student-athletes participated in the showcase games, representing 32 states, Canada, and New Zealand. In addition, Triple Crown Sports televised its first-ever Sparkler All-American Game. The All-American teams consisted of signed Division I players and players chosen from the showcase games who were selected by the college coaches working with them on the field.

The 2007 Sparkler Tournament brought together over 1,600 players from 40 states and Canada to participate in the showcase games and enjoy the unique opportunity to build relationships with new teammates and college coaches. Once again, the All-American game was successfully televised.

In 2008, the Christopher Complex played host again to 1,920 showcase participants. These prospective student-athletes not only participated in the largest youth fastpitch tournament in the world, but also competed in the unique atmosphere the Showcase games present. From that pool of 1,920 players, 248 players were selected to play on eight All-American teams, and 62 players were highlighted in our third All-American television production - syndicated to over 20 states. The 2008 showcase event brought out two of the greatest Olympians in the history of softball; Michelle Smith and Crystal Bustos, for autograph session appearances.

As this event continues to grow, 2009 will see approximately 2,500 prospective student-athletes involved in the College Exposure Showcase. Showcase teams will again be formed according to graduating class, region, and primary and/or secondary position. Individual placement on a team by the above criteria is contingent upon availability - particularly as we get closer to the event. Each team will be coached by Junior College and NAIA college coaches who are attending the Sparkler Tournament for recruiting purposes.

    Event Testimonials:
"My daughter received many contacts from her All-Star and All-American game. As a parent of a student-athlete, I can not thank you enough for the opportunity you open to these dedicated athletes."

"I have been contacted by several college coaches from my participation in the Sparkler All-Star game. Most notably, Friends University in Wichita, KS. This was a direct result of my All-Star game where the Friends University coach was one of my All-Star coaches."

"I would like to thank you and the Triple Crown Staff. If it wasn't for TCS, I couldn't have had a successful season at McCook Community College last season. I signed 10 players from TCS last year and we won 30 games. Due to this, I was offered the head coaching position at York College in Nebraska. Again I would like to thank you and TCS for part of my success."
    Ty Robinson
    Head Softball Coach
    York College

"I will sign with the University of Evansville. The coach initially saw me pitch in the Sparkler."
