...Why Colorado?
Colorado is a great sports state; in fact, it’s a sports Mecca! People in this state have proven they support successful sport teams. “We have just about every sport you could imagine here,” said Lieutenant Governor Barbara O’Brien, “But we’re missing something really important that you have the vision to create; and that’s a WNBA franchise.” The Colorado Chill wants to build a passionate, engaged, and attending season ticket base that creates a vibrant, loud, and energetic home court advantage and atmosphere – a must attend environment.

While there is a professional men’s team that calls Colorado home in almost every national league offered in the US, there is not a women’s professional team that has the same privilege. “Sports teams are what build legacies within a community and even if it’s just for a couple of hours at a time, sports are the things that bring families, friends and communities together. There has been a lot of talk about the ability to provide role models and that is something each of these sports can certainly do,” said Pepsi Center Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Brian Kitts.
“Our girls need role models other than the Nuggets, and other than the Broncos, and other than the Rockies. Our girls need to look up at great women athletes. But let me tell you, a professional sports franchise for women here will only help,” added Ceal Barry.

Colorado Chill players will be elite level athletes that care about their community and its values and will develop relationships with the people in our local communities. There will be a substantial youth involvement at the games creating fun and excitement and resulting in an experience that is family first and family friendly by creating year-round relationships that tie the team to our youth. “I really respect the way that the values of community service and sharing on the basketball court are going to be part of what makes a team like this gel into something that everyone can be proud to have here,” said Lt. Governor O’Brien.

Triple Crown Sports Owner Dave King is encouraged by the response from the WNBA and NBA President David Stern. “They’re convinced that we are the right partner, the right people, the right state, and the right time,” said King. “From the team at Kroenke Sports to the Government officials each way, they’ve said ‘go ahead, we’re behind you.’”

The time is now and the place couldn’t be better…so Colorado, prepare to feel the Chill!
