The Colorado Chill of the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) announced today that they have signed former University of Colorado standout Erin Scholz.

Scholz, a 6- foot-2 forward, played at CU from 1993-1997. In that time at CU, she became one of only a handful of players who surpassed the 1,000 point mark with a total of 1,621 points in her four year career. Besides being a great offensive player, she had 145 career steals and blocked 125 shots. Scholz was drafted out of college by the ABL Portland Power in the fifth round but elected to step away from basketball at that time.

"God has called me back to the court," Scholz said when asked why she wanted to come back to basketball after a seven year hiatus. "It has been dead for years and God has resurrected that dream and given it new life."

Erin is from Colorado Springs, but currently works as a Bulk/Dairy/Frozen Buyer at Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers in Arvada. She will take a three-month leave of absence from her job to fill a traveling position with the Chill.

"Erin is a great addition to this team," said Dave King, General Manager for the Colorado Chill. "She is a player that we looked to sign last year, but nobody knew how to locate her. Then she introduced herself to me at a home game last season, and discussions began from there."

Erin is the fifth player on the roster for the 2005 season. She will join USA Gold Medal Olympian Ruth Riley, WNBA All-Star Becky Hammon, 2004 Colorado Chill MVP Katie Cronin, and Teresa Hinz, a fire fighter in the Greeley area.

The Colorado Chill completed the 2004 season as the regular season champions and were undefeated at home in the Budweiser Events Center. For 2005 season ticket information, contact Kim at Triple Crown Sports at 970-223-6644 ext.167.
