Hammon Says It's Time to Chill

Wednesday, September 7, 2005

The wait is over. The questions can stop.  WNBA Allstar and former CSU standout Becky Hammon has renewed her contract for a third year with the Colorado Chill.

"She's an owners dream and a very good friend," says Dave King, owner of the Chill.

Last year Hammon helped lead the Colorado Chill to the 2005 NWBL Championship and was playoff and Allstar MVP.  She joins Ruth Riley as the 2nd signed player for the 2006 Colorado Chill.

Hammon is in her 6th season with the WNBA NewYork Liberty where she is averaging 13.9 ppg.  Some might remember her better from her CSU days where she helped lead her team to three NCAA tournament appearances.  Last year CSU retired Hammon's jersey.

"Any statement I make about Becky and her basketball ability and contribution to the Chill...would be a drastic understatement.  I haven't found a way to verbally capture her passion for the game and her passion for this Northern Colorado community," says Head Coach Kelly Packard.

The Colorado Chill season will run from February through the end of March.  The Chill is a part of the five team NWBL league and play their home games at the Budweiser Events Center.  Season tickets are now on sale and going fast.  Fans can purchase season tickets by calling Melissa at 970-223-6644 ext 167.   For group ticketing information please call Liz Garcia at 970-619-4122.
