CARROLLTON, Texas – Ruth Riley, Colorado’s primary inside presence, brought her ‘A’ game to Dallas on Saturday evening. Unfortunately she was about the only one to show up, as the Chill fell to the Fury by a final score of 73-61, dropping them to 8-2 on the season.
Riley, who recorded her second straight double-double and sixth of the season, finished the game with 22 points and 16 rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting. It was also the third straight game in which she has scored at least 20 points.
The rest of the team struggled mightily throughout the evening as they managed to knock down only 20 field goals in the entire game. As a team, Colorado shot only 34% (20-59) from the floor.
The Chill shot even worse from behind the three-point line in the game. Colorado only knocked down four threes in the game on 22 attempts and our now 0-4 all-time in games played in Dallas.
Only Becky Hammon and Carrie Bacon managed to reach double-figures in the game for Colorado with 15 and 14 points respectively. Combined, the two player’s were 8-of-25 from the floor. The Chill’s other two starters were held to three points in the game, with Erin Scholz being shutout.
Dallas did not shoot the ball much better in the game, shooting only 33% from the floor. In the first half, the Fury shot 26% from the field, making only 12-of-45 attempts.
Anna DeForge led the Fury with 22 points in the game, followed by the 16 points of Felicia Ragland. Cheryl Ford had arguably the strongest night for the Fury by scoring 13 points and pulling down 18 rebounds.
Colorado will conclude its three-game road trip on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Naperville to take on the Chicago Blaze. The game in Chicago will be the team’s third game in as many days.
