Colorado Escapes Dallas in Overtime
Six Players Score in Double-Figures for Chill

Thursday, January 27, 2005
LOVELAND, Colo. – Anna DeForge of the Dallas Fury almost single-handedly ended the Chill’s home court winning streak at 16 games as she scored 41 points, but Colorado was able to escape with a 99-92 overtime victory.

DeForge was 13-of-23 from the floor in the game, also connecting on 7-of-11 three-point attempts. The 41-points scored by DeForge was the most scored by any one opponent against the Chill.

“We tried to trap DeForge tonight, but everyone didn’t buy into that,” state Chill Head Coach Kelly Packard. “We are going to work hard on defense tomorrow to improve in some areas, but you have to give credit, where credit is due. Anna is a terrific player.”

It was Becky Hammon’s runner with 1:00 remaining in the second half that gave Colorado a chance to go to overtime. With only two points at halftime, Hammon heated up in the second half to score 23 of her 25 points.

In the overtime session, Colorado was able to take control of the game to win by seven. In the extra session, Hammon took over scoring seven points to lead the Chill, including the clinching two-point basket with 2:44 remaining.

The game was a seesaw battle as it featured a total of 17 ties and 17 lead changes between the two teams. Colorado’s largest lead of the game was eight points, while Dallas was able to obtain a large lead of eight points.

For the first time this season, Colorado had all five players score in double-figures, with Hammon leading the way with 25 points. Hammon has now led the team in scoring in four consecutive games and five of the six played this season. Hammon also recorded ten assists to earn her second double-double of the season.
