Angie Nelp Re-Signs With Colorado for 2005 Season
Former CSU Standout to Finish Season with Chill

Monday, January 24, 2005
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado Chill of the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) and team owner David King announced today that they have re-signed Angie Nelp to the 2005 roster.

Nelp signed a contract for the league minimum and will play the remaining 20 games in the 2005 season. She will, however, continue to live and work as a physician's assistant in Indianapolis with her husband Jake during the team's off days. She is expected to participate in roughly 50% of the team's remaining scheduled practices.

Her situation is similar to that of other Chill players, Tiffany McCain and Teresa Hinz, in that they are also holding down full-time jobs during the season. McCain is the head pharmacist at McKee Medical Center and Hinz is a firefighter and mother in Greeley.

"As an organization, we are thrilled to have a player and person like Angie back on the roster," exclaimed King. "She is a high-energy player that will provide valuable back-up minutes at both the three and four positions."

Nelp was one of the valuable pieces to the regular season championship team in 2004 for the Chill. On the season Nelp averaged 2.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in just 12 minutes of action per game.

For fans of women's basketball in Northern Colorado, Nelp's style play should be no surprise to anyone. Nelp made her mark in 1999 as a freshman on the Colorado State University women's basketball team that reached the Sweet 16. She finished her career at CSU finishing in the Top 10 in ten different statistical categories and is just one of 12 players to score at least 1,200 points in team history.

"Angie does all of the intangibles that may not fill up the stat sheet every night like other players in the league," stated Chill Head Coach Kelly Packard. "But ever since I've known Angie, her play was never defined by how many points she would put on the board."

With the addition of Nelp, the 2005 Chill roster now stands at 13 players.
