FORT COLLINS, Colo. – On Saturday, January 22nd, Colorado State University will honor Colorado Chill point guard Becky Hammon by retiring her #25 during halftime of the Rams game against UNLV and Sunday the Chill will continue the festivities by giving away a special Hammon poster to the first 2,000 fans in attendance.

Becky Hammon made a name for herself as an All-American at CSU in the late 90s, and she is continuing her excellence as a member of the Colorado Chill this season.

“Becky Hammon, without question, is the finest women’s basketball player in school history,” said CSU Athletics Director Mark Driscoll. “On behalf of the entire athletic department, the Former Athletes Association (FAA), and university community, it will be an honor to retire her jersey, and have it hang among four of the most legendary names in the history of Colorado State University athletics.”

The native of Rapid City, S.D., still owns three Colorado State single game records, nine single season records, and 10 career records.

Tip-off for Colorado’s game against the Chicago Blaze is scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m. Prior to tip-off, the Chill will unveil the 2004 Regular Season Champions banner from the rafters of the Budweiser Events Center.

Hammon has helped guide her current team, the Chill, to a 3-0 record in the NWBL this season. She currently is the league leader in points per game, assists per game and field goal percentage. She has led the Chill in scoring in two of the team’s three games.

“We feel very fortunate to have Becky back with us, healthy and playing as well as she did during her college days, said Chill Owner David King. “It is going to be a special weekend for basketball fans in Northern Colorado with the jersey retirement on Saturday and the Chill game on Sunday.”
