FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado Chill has trimmed the roster down to 12 players to begin the regular season, announced Head Coach Kelly Packard and team owner David King.
Samaiyah Council, a back-up point guard, was in tough competition with Nikki Rouillard for the final guard position on the team. Both players put up similar numbers during the two exhibition games, but Council lost out to the more experience Rouillard.
Council’s player rights have been officially released by the team.
Post player Nadia Fercha was the second player removed from the active roster today. Fercha, who played her college ball down I-25 at Colorado State University – Pueblo, played in both preseason games and average 2.5 points per contest.
Fercha entered camp looking for a spot at the already deep post positions. Coach Packard felt that with Fercha’s opportunity to return to Europe to compete this was the best available move. Fercha will remain a member of the Chill, but will be placed on the inactive list. If an injury occurs to a rostered player, Fercha can be recalled anytime before the roster deadline.
“We’re sad to have to let both player’s go,” stated King. “Both ladies are tremendous players and people off the court, but the numbers were stacked against them.”
The official roster for Colorado now stands at 12 players.
Colorado will be back in action on Saturday, January 15th when they host the Lubbock Hawks at the Budweiser Events Center beginning at 7:05 p.m. MST.
