The
Colorado Chill of the National Women’s Basketball League (NWBL)
announced today that they have signed Katie Cronin to a two-year
contract.
Cronin, a six-foot forward, finished the 2004 NWBL
as an All Star, 2004 team MVP, and a Chill fan favorite. Katie finished
the Colorado Chill 2004 season with an average of 11.4 points, 7.2
rebounds, 2 steals in 29.3 minutes in twenty-one games.
“I am very excited to re-sign Katie,”
said Dave King, General Manager for the Colorado Chill. “She
was the nucleus of the 2004 season, and she helps provide the continued
familiarity of the players to the fans.”
Cronin’s contract does have a few options
to release her if the situation does arise. If she were offered
a head or an associate head collegiate coaching position or she
was hired for a teaching position out of town the Chill would allow
her to further her career.
“I’m extremely happy to be returning
for the 2005 season,” said Cronin, from her parent’s
home in Broomfield, CO. “If we continue to build on the success
of last season, we should have an awesome run for outright champions.
Plus, it is always great to play in front of the fans at the Budweiser
Events Center.”
Katie is the fourth player on the roster for the
2005 season. She will join WNBA All-Star, Becky Hammon, USA Olympian,
Ruth Riley, and Teresa Hinz, a fire fighter in the Greeley area.
The Colorado Chill completed the 2004 season
as the regular season champions and were undefeated at home in the
Budweiser Events Center. For 2005 season ticket information, contact
