LOVELAND, Colo. – The Colorado Chill of the National Women’s
Basketball League (NWBL) defeated the Springfield Spirit, 60-49,
on Tuesday night to improve their season long winning streak to
six games.
With the win, Colorado upped their mark to 12-5
on the season, keeping their perfect record at the Budweiser Events
Center. Colorado has now won all nine home games by double-digits.
For
the second consecutive home game, Colorado had a difficult time
shooting the basketball. In tonights win the Chill connected
on only 34% (21-of-61) of their field goal attempts, including
a 3-of-16 effort from behind the three-point line.
The visiting
Springfield Spirit did not fair much better from the floor, as
they only managed to shoot only 29% for the game.
Colorado was
led by center Ruth Riley, who finished the night with 13 points
and a game-high 12 rebounds, including four on the offensive end.
Riley’s double-double was her third of the season, and her
second against the Spirit. The only other player to score at least
10 points in the game was starting forward Katie Cronin who finished
with 11.
Tiffany Kyser led Springfield, as she scored a
game-high 15 points on 7-of-16 shooting. NWBL All-Star Andrea Garner
was the only other player to reach double-figures for the Spirit.
Garner ended the night with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Colorado’s next game will be on Saturday afternoon when
they will travel to Houston to take on the Stealth at 3 p.m. MST.
Entering Saturday’s game, Houston trails Colorado by 1.5
games in the standings.
