DALLAS, Texas – After winning two games
at home over the weekend, the
Colorado Chill of the National Women’s Basketball League
(NWBL) were back
on the road where they lost their fifth consecutive road game of
the
season dropping them to 6-5 on the season.
Colorado traveled to Dallas
to take on the Fury in a rematch of last
Sunday’s game won by the Chill. In the second meeting in
three day’s, the
Fury avenged the 19-point road loss to defeat the Chill by a
final score
of 93-75.
Dallas was led in scoring by forward Cheryl Ford
and guard Felicia Ragland
who each finished the game with 21 points. The two combined to
shoot
16-of-17 from the floor, as they guided the Fury to their fourth
win of
the year. For the game, the Fury shot a blistering 66.7% from
the floor.
Two other players also finished in double-figures
for Dallas. Sheryl
Swoopes finished with 15 and Anna DeForge ended the game with
16 points.
On Wednesday, Swoopes and DeForge combined for 31 points on 14-of-23
shooting, bettering their 19 combined points and 7-of-26 shooting
on
Sunday afternoon in Colorado.
Colorado was led in scoring by guard
Edna Campbell, who returned from a
two-game absence with a shoulder injury, and finished with a game-high
22
points. Forward’s Katie Cronin and Maren Walseth each finished
the game
with 14 points, as Cronin collected her third double-double of
the season.
Colorado also shot the ball fairly well from the floor as they
finished
the game 48.9%
The Chill played the game without center Ruth
Riley who had other
commitments with her WNBA franchise, the Detroit Shock. In Riley’s
absence Colorado was out rebounded by Dallas by only one board,
26-25.
Cronin finished the game with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Colorado
will next be in action Sunday afternoon, as they will take on the
Birmingham Power in Birmingham, Ala. Tip-off is scheduled for 1
p.m. MST.
The game against the Power will be the Chill’s final game
before the
All-Star break.
The NWBL is a six-team league that features more
than 25 active WNBA
players. Other teams in the league include the Birmingham Power
